Product

The iShoot would in effect add to portable mp4 recorders a quality lens and sound recording device. Unique 3-position grip which tracks around the camera and tucks into the bottom for storage iPod docks onto 2-way 180 degree swivel dock. When inserted iPod becomes viewer and media storage. Records directly onto iPod hard drive in MP4 format for direct playback

Background

The brief was to design and produce blue foam model for a hand-held gadget paying particular attention to product architecture. I wanted to tap into the market for modern iPod accessories, paying respect to the retro styles of Dieter Rams 'less but better' design principles, of which Apple remain staunch advocates. The feeling behind the concept is that video cameras are becoming more and more mobile and convenient with loss of quality as a consequence, so the iShoot sets out to improve quality, yet still take advantage of the portability and convenience of shooting directly to a digitally compressed file, ready for uploading, viewing, and transferring
